Joanne Smith and Mark Heath were charged with being concerned in offering to supply the Class B drug and possession of bladed articles in a public place.

They appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday morning.

Smith, 33, of Maple Grove, Stafford, was given conditional bail while Heath, 45, of Marlow Road, Stoke-on-Trent, was remanded into custody.

Smith was then further arrested for breaching her bail conditions and on suspicion of perverting the course of justice before she appeared at court yesterday, when she was also remanded into custody.

Her next appearance date is yet to be confirmed.

Chief Inspector Gemma Ward, Commander for Stafford Borough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These arrests and charges form part of an on-going operation aimed at eradicating the supply of monkey dust and related criminality in the Stafford area.

"Our policing team will enforce bail conditions and those who flout them will face significant consequences as demonstrated in this case.”
