Mother Kelly Ellitts and father Gary Wilson will hold the special event at St Joseph’s Church, in Coalway Road, Wolverhampton, on Sunday, July 1, between 2pm and 6pm.

The event, which will mark what would have been the teenager’s 16th birthday, will also raise awareness of knife crime.

Keelan would have turned 16 on July 1

It will include a performance from musician Vital, Caribbean food, jerk BBQ and inflatables for children.

The family and friends of Keelan will also light candles and release balloons in his memory.

Ms Ellitts, 40, said: “Keelan’s dad and I are holding this event to not only mark his sixteenth birthday but to also raise awareness against knife crime.

“Keelan was a much-loved, popular boy who was supported and loved.

“We are standing united to get justice for Keelan so he can be at peace and we will not stop until this happens.”

Police are unsure of the motive behind the attack on Keelan, pictured here with his mother

Keelan, 15, was stabbed to death just yards away from his home in Wolverhampton on May 29.

West Midlands Police launched a murder investigation into his death in Strathfield Walk, Merry Hill, but detectives are still unsure about the motive behind the attack.

Four teenagers, aged 14, 15, 16 and 17, arrested on suspicion of his murder have all been released on bail.

His parents paid tribute to their ‘loving’ son following his death, saying: “He was just 15, he was still a baby.”

Ms Ellitts has also backed our Express & Star campaign to change the law around the sale of deadly blades – calling for the Government to take action following her son’s death.

She said: “I know how easy it is to buy these weapons on the high street, I have heard how easy it is.

"I am just disgusted that these are available to buy so easily. I didn’t realise some of the types of knives that are available.

“Keelan’s attack was violent. I 100 per cent feel that those knives need to be taken off the street and the Government can make a difference by banning them.”
