Masked men threatened staff with knives and a crowbar during a raid on a shop in Oldbury.

Three men hiding their faces with masks burst into the Nisa Local store, in George Road, Bristnall Fields.

One member of staff was attacked during the cause of the terrifying robbery.

They received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

They raided the store at around 6.45am on Friday and made off with money.

A police spokeswoman said: "It is believed three masked men entered the shop and threatened a member of staff with knives and crowbar.

"The worker was attacked before the men made off with a quantity of cash.

"Although shaken, the staff member only received minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment."

Ward Councillor Rajbir Singh said: "It is a big shock. This is a part of Oldbury that has never seen such an incident in recent times.

"This is a safer community in the area. I will try to find out what the consequences will be and how it will be dealt with.

"Crime is on the rise due to cuts in the police department.

"We do not have enough police to monitor in this area and it is encouraging criminals to be more bold and be more aggressive.

"It is beyond council control but we are doing our best.

"It is a relief that no one was injured on this occasion but this will life with the staff member. They will not feel normal."
