Hoang Hug Vo, aged 20 and of no fixed address, was due to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court this morning charged with the production of class B drugs.

It comes after officers from the St Matthew’s neighbourhood policing team discovered a large number of cannabis plants growing in Vicarage Place, Walsall, on Monday evening.

Though the full extent of the drugs factory is still being investigated, it is thought that in excess of 1,000 plants may have been cultivated in a number of rooms at the premises.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the St Matthews team by dialling 101.

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
