Drink-drive arrest after car stops on train tracks in Oldbury

A man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a car was found stopped on train tracks.

Police were called after the Vauxhall was spotted stranded on the tracks near a level crossing on Crosswells Road, Langley, Oldbury,

British Transport Police confirmed a 50-year-old man from Oldbury was arrested on suspicion of drink driving on New Year's Day.

The driver was later released while the police investigation continues.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Crosswells Road level crossing, Oldbury, yesterday following reports of a car on the tracks.

“The call came into police at 11.58pm. Officers from West Midlands Police attended the scene. A 50-year-old man from Oldbury was arrested for drunk driving.

“The man has been released under investigation.”
