Teenager arrested for attempted murder

A teenager from Stafford has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 15 year old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is one of four youths arrested in connection with an incident in Tamworth that left an 18-year-old man in a critical condition.

He is currently being treated in hospital after suffering serious head injuries.

Two 16-year-old boys from Tamworth were both arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

A 17-year-old boy from Tamworth was also arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

All four remain in custody.

Staffordshire Police spokesperson Mike Chipchase said: "We received a call from the ambulance service at 12.12am reporting an unconscious male near to the McDonald's restaurant on Beauchamp Industrial Park.

"The crime scene has been closed down and access to the estate is now fully restored.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help with our investigation is asked to call 101 and quote incident number 0005 of 19 October."
