Men jailed for Wolverhampton street attack on Outback nightclub promoter

Patrick Jackson and Ricardo Miles set upon Aman Nanglu, who was handing out flyers in Wolverhampton city centre for the Outback nightclub.

Jackson, 22, repeatedly tried to kick Mr Nanglu before 21-year-old Miles dragged him to the ground.

Mr Nanglu, who the court heard was an aspiring model, was knocked unconscious for a few seconds, had several teeth chipped and was left with bruising to his face.

The attackers left the scene but Miles was later traced, having dropped his phone as he fled.

Jackson was identified nearby by a witness to the attack, who assisted police.

Both men were jailed for 10 months at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday.

Mr Patrick Sullivan, prosecuting, said at about midnight on July 28 Mr Nanglu and two colleagues were asked to return to Outback, formerly Walkabout, in Queen Street.

He said: "They were making their way along the King Street pedestrianised area, when they encountered the defendants.

"Mr Jackson kicked out at the victim and then a woman tried to separate them. Mr Miles then grabbed the victim around the neck and he fell to the floor.

"Mr Jackson then says something and pulls his friend off the victim. It had been a tight hold around the neck and the victim thinks that is why he lost consciousness."

In a court statement, Mr Nanglu said how he felt his injuries had affected his aspirations to be a model.

Mr Ekwall Tiwana, defending Jackson, of St Georges Parade, Wolverhampton, said: "Mr Jackson got involved because the victim made some comment.

"These two defendants reacted in a very bad way. The kicks didn't make any contact. My client's role was to separate the victim and Mr Miles at the end."

Michelle Heeley, defending Miles, of Kipling Road, Fordhouses, said her client acknowledged drink had played a part.

Both men had admitted assaulting Mr Nanglu.

Jackson also accepted possessing knuckle dusters, which were not used.
