Successful Expo for Star Employment Services

Members of the team from Star Employment Services, owned by the Midlands News Association, took part in the recent Black Country Chamber Expo – a bi-annual highlight of the business calendar.

More than 200 delegates attended the Expo at the GTC Training Academy and Conference Centre in Willenhall, held as part of the wider Black Country Business Festival. Leaders from across the region met to network and discuss joint opportunities.

Star Employment Services relaunched last year and colleagues were on hand to distribute promotional material and brochures detailing the recruitment services on offer.

Gemma Merrick, senior recruitment consultant at SES, said the event had become a firm fixture in the calendar because it attracted such diverse groups of people and businesses.

“The Expo is an important event for businesses across the region. It gave us the opportunity to share our recruitment services with a wide audience. Many people already use the Shropshire Star and Express and Star for advertising jobs in a print format. At Star Employment Services we offer the whole package, we take care of the print advertising within the papers, online advertising, and offer a bespoke recruitment service too. We utilise all of the products and services available to us to get the best results for our clients.

“It was a very successful event for us and we met representatives from leading organisations in the area. We have a lot of follow-up work to do with some very promising new business leads.”

Visitors to the event were also treated to entertainment from comic duo ‘Laurel and Hardy’ promoting the Funny Things Comedy Festival being run by the Creative Black Country group from October 26 to November 2.

Caricaturist Pen Jones was also on hand to sketch those attending and invited people to submit jokes.

The expo had a special area to encourage Black Country firms to get involved in bidding for work on the 2022 Commonwealth Games which is being held in Birmingham.
