The Staffing Group lands top award

Walsall's The Staffing Group landed the business of the year prize at the annual Signature Awards.

TSG, established in 1992 with its head office in Hatherton Road, is the 29th largest recruitment agency in the country with a turnover of £350 million.

It supplies temporary and permanent workers, locally, regionally and on a national base.

With growth exceeding 20 per cent it was recognised as one of the top ten growing companies in 2018.

Established in 1992 it services some of the largest employers in the country providing flexible and reliable staff, meeting gaps where employment needs are greatest.

The awards were held for the fifth time on Friday at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham with more than 560 attending.

The event had 13 categories covering manufacturing and service industries in the West Midlands.

They are organised by Ninder Johal, of Nahural Communications.

The board member of the Black Country LEP and West Midlands Combined Authority was celebrating his appointment that day as a Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands.

Other winners on the night included Paul Kalinauckas, of BCRS Business Loans, Wolverhampton, who won excellence in finance.

KMB Shipping Group, of Dudley, landed the small business of the year award and Manjeet Rai, of Wolverhampton, was business person of the year.

The evening, hosted by Tommy Sandbu, raised raised £6,500 for charity Acorns.

Guest speaker was Piers Linney of the BBC’s Dragons' Den who outlined the changing economic landscape as a result of technological changes and the impact of artificial intelligence.

Mr Johal said that despite the uncertainty around Brexit, the region had several positives including being a test bed for 5G, the greatest number of start-ups outside London and despite the problems around JLR, the automotive and aerospace sectors continue to remain strong.
