Hammerson has chosen Stephanie Lacey to take up the post at its flagship retail destination Bullring & Grand Central.

She brings more than 25 years of retail and management experience to the role after holding positions across the sector from aviation retail and premium outlets to launching and managing major retail destinations across the UK.

Stephanie joins from Hammerson’s mixed-use venue in Bristol, Cabot Circus, which is home to more than 130 shops and 30 restaurants and is anchored by Harvey Nichols and a Showcase Cinema de Lux. As general manager her key achievement has been establishing Cabot Circus as the leading retail and leisure destination in the South West.

Stephanie will focus on building relationships with key city and regional stakeholders and championing Birmingham’s position as the UK’s second city alongside developing the best retail and leisure offer outside London.

Bullring recently celebrated its 15th year of trading, and has welcomed more than 550 million shoppers during that time.

Recent additions to the line-up include H&M’s latest fashion offer Arket, premium footwear and accessories retailer Kurt Geiger, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and US beauty brand Morphe, who has taken its first store outside of London.

“I am delighted to be appointed general manager for Bullring & Grand Central and my aim is to build on the success of the venue – which has already changed the face of retail in the region and is a major part of Birmingham’s identity. I am excited to take on this challenge and am looking forward to working with a truly talented and dedicated team to deliver more firsts and an exceptional experience for our shoppers," said Stephanie.

Janet Bishopp, operations director for Hammerson, said: “Stephanie has been a brilliant ambassador for both Cabot Circus and Bristol and we are in no doubt that the drive and energy she brought to this role will be invaluable in her new role as general manager of one of Europe’s top retail destinations. Bullring & Grand Central has a bright future and Stephanie has the right talent and experience to ensure its success continues.”

The Bullring Estate is managed by Hammerson and owned in a joint venture by Hammerson, CPPIB and TH Real Estate.
