Sitab Khan’s culinary expertise has helped the restaurant secure its prestigious four food listings

Bilash, which offers a combination of traditional and contemporary Bangladeshi cuisine, has been featured in the Michelin Guide for the 18th consecutive year and is the only city venue to be included in 2019.

It was also named as a culinary hotspot by Hardens and the Good Food Guide, whilst the AA’s Culinary Rose of Excellence completed another twelve months of significant growth for the family-owned enterprise that is now in its 36th year.

“There’s no better accolade than to be listed in one of these publications, let alone all four of them,” explained Mohammed Khan, who runs the business with his father Sitab.

“We never know when experts will come. There is no advertising or free meals as part of the deal…it’s a completely unbiased review of the food, the service, the atmosphere and the experience. I’m delighted we scored so highly in every possible area for the 18th consecutive year!”

He continued: “The guides really help to attract new customers and, importantly, they let people know that Wolverhampton does have a restaurant as good as anything the West Midlands has to offer.”

Bilash, which employs 16 people at its Cheapside restaurant, seats 50 diners downstairs and a further 30 upstairs, which can be used for private dining or corporate functions.

The four listings come at a busy time for the restaurant as it launches its Christmas lunchtime and evening menu, featuring signature dishes such as tandoori fish, Bilash Super, Palak Ghost and Golda Dupiazi.

For the first time in its history, it will also open on Christmas Day to provide an exclusive number of diners with a Royal Nawabi Feast that traditionally would only be served to the Royals over the festive period.

“This is not like any traditional roast turkey dinner and you’ll find very few places that have the culinary skills to deliver such a treat,” added Mo.

“Lunch will feature a special Bangladeshi chicken roast, a shahi lamb, a golda dopiaza and masala mach, with a gulab jaman in sweet brandy sauce for dessert. We are only looking to cater for 40 covers for this not to be missed opportunity.”

Bilash, which has also recently launched its ‘Bilash & Bubbles’ ladies business networking quarterly event, will close on December 26t until January 22.

To mark its reopening, the 2019 new menu will be immediately launched and, for just three weeks, diners will be able to sample the new dishes for a special rate of just £20 per head.
