Vision Petlon Polymers, a subsidiary of the Visionscape Group, purchased Thermoplastics Engineering business Petlon Polymers, from Duff & Phelps. The company also acquired the assets of two more businesses within the plastics sector, Gelpack Excelsior, and Gelpack Industrial from KPMG. Gelpack had been a leading manufacturer of polyethylene films, liners, and sacks to the food processing, beverage, and waste management industrial sectors.

Both companies are long-standing brands in the industry for over four decades. Recently, Vision Containers, a subsidiary within the group, acquired another heritage brand Sellers, the UK’s leading manufacturer of skips and containers.

David Ellis, partner, and head of the insolvency team at Brierley Hill-based Higgs, said he was delighted that the firm was able to advise on these significant acquisitions which will help to secure business continuity for both the Gelpack and Petlon Polymers businesses while assisting Visionscape to expand its business within the UK.

“Visionscape’s purchase of the businesses ultimately led to over 250 employees being retained and re-engaged at the offices occupied by the fledgling businesses.”

Harry Ackerman, executive director of Visionscape said: “The addition of Vision Petlon Polymers, Sellers and Vision Gelpack to the Visionscape Group is a great strategic fit for us. We are excited to have them become a part of Visionscape Group. We have made an excellent investment that will enable us to provide a more comprehensive range of product offerings, services and solutions to our many customers in the markets in which we operate.”

David Ellis concluded: “We are pleased to have been chosen to support the Visionscape Group in these major acquisitions. There were some challenges to overcome in completing the purchases within such a short timescale; however, the fact that we achieved this is a real testament to everyone in the Higgs team who worked tirelessly to achieve the right outcome for all the stakeholders”.

“We have a tremendous pool of talent here at Higgs, and we are all thrilled to have played a part in getting these deals over the line so successfully.”
