Prince of Wales in Walsall Road is set to go under the hammer early next month for a guide price of £168,000 – unless a new landlord can be found.

Owned by Black Country firm Holdens, The Prince of Wales is a well-known CAMRA pub and features in several Good Pub Guides.

Local councillor Doug James said Darlaston was enduring a 'slow death' of its local pubs.

He said: "There needs to be urgent action taken by the authorities to maintain community assets. The threat to The Prince is a harsh wake up call for our local businesses and communities.

"We are losing the very heritage and building infrastructure of our town at an ever increasing rate.

"If anyone can help save Prince Of Wales please contact Holdens before the hammer comes down on another famous and unique Darlaston pub."

The auction will take place on Tuesday, April 9 at Ramada Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton.
