Black Country brewery Sadler's prepare to open first Birmingham bar
A growing family-run Black Country brewer and bar chain is opening its first site in Birmingham later this year.
Lye-based Sadler's Ales is creating up to eight new jobs with the Sadler's Tap Room in Hagley Road West, Quinton.
Sadler's managing director Chris Sadler said that the former shop premises were now being refurbished ready for opening in between six to eight weeks time.
The new bar will offer a full range of the keg and craft beers produced at the company's brewery on Conyers Trading Estate in Station Drive and will offer burgers and street food.
"We just received the keys this week. We are delighted to be bringing Sadler's in to Birmingham," said Mr Sadler.
It follows the recent opening of a Sadler's Peaky Blinder bar at the Genting Arena, Solihull, which will open for major concerts and sells Sadler's Peaky Blinders beers.
It was open for the Stereophonics concert last week and will also be trading for the Bryan Adams performance on May 25.
"It will open for concerts that attract a more adult audience. We are the first to be selling a local beer at the NEC site and our beers and the bar have been very well received," he added.
Mr Sadler said that the business was also looking at two to three more sites in the West Midlands for bars.
"By the end of the year we should have two more open following on from Quinton," he added.
The business dates from 1900 and also has The Windsor Castle pub in Lye, Sadler's Brewhouse and Bar above the brewery and a pub and restaurant in Southampton.
An extension to the brewery, which will see production quadrupled, is due for completion and opening next month.
Mr Sadler said that four new staff had already been taken on ahead of the opening and ramping up of production of Sadler's range of keg and bottles ales.
