Developers Stoford said it will house 6,500 vehicles for the West Midlands-based luxury carmaker.

The company manufactures its cars in Castle Bromwich, Solihull and at Halewood on Merseyside. Engines for the cars come from the i54 manufacturing plant at junction two of the M54 near Wolverhampton.

The development, on land at Stone Business Park, would create up to 75 new jobs for local people and provide secure storage facilities for the new vehicles.

Security is likely to be at a premium: 6,500 new Jaguars and Land Rovers would be worth more than £200 million.

The plans will be submitted to Stafford Borough Council following a two-day public consultation at Stone House Hotel on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Local residents and other interested parties have been invited to attend to learn more about the development.

Stoford director Tony Nash said: : “This development will bring significant inward investment into the county and will represent a major commitment to the region by Jaguar Land Rover, one of the world’s leading luxury car makers

"The 52-acre site will primarily act as a new vehicle distribution centre accommodating up to 6,500 vehicles. It will provide the manufacturer with a high quality national delivery hub in a central location with excellent links to the motorway network.

“A highly secure site, it will also be very well landscaped to limit the impact on the surrounding area as much as possible.”

He added: “We would encourage anyone that may be interested in learning more about the development, or who would like to express their opinions, to come along to the two-day consultation so that their views can be taken into account by the planning committee.”
