The new owners want to extend the hotel, adding a new restaurant and further bedrooms.

The 81-bedroom hotel and conference centre had been owned by Wolverhampton businessman Gurjit Mahal, who bought it out of administration in 2012.

The price tag on the deal is not being revealed. It becomes the sixth hotel in the Redwings chain, which includes a lodge on the Wolverhampton ring road.

The hotel, on Wolverhampton Road, was sold by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co which said the Ramada Birmingham Hotel in Oldbury was put up for sale following a huge turn around in business performance following its acquisition by Mr Mahal five years ago.

Charles Jones, senior business agent at Christie & Co, handled the sale and said: “The Ramada opened in 2008 and also includes a restaurant and four function rooms which are extensively used for conferences, events and weddings so we knew it would generate a lot of interest once on the market.

“Redwings Lodge is very happy to be associated with the Ramada brand and plans to extend the property, adding new restaurant space and further bedrooms. They are also looking to further expand their portfolio within the Birmingham and Coventry area.”

Mr Mahal bought the hotel, which employs around 35 people, a year after its former owners, the Brierly Hill-based Fortmere Group, went into administration in 2011.

Built at a cost of £20 million, it opened in June 2008 and has been extensively used for conferences, events and weddings.
