Mishi Nurseries, which is owned by husband and wife team Raj and Jyoti Jaspal, has purchased the former Co-op nursery in Kidderminster.

The nursery had received a ‘good’ OFSTED rating before it was closed in February 2016. The facility offers places for 110 children.

Mishi Nurseries director Raj Jaspal said: “When the opportunity arose to purchase this nursery we jumped at the chance as it benefitted from a good reputation in the area. We were looking to expand our own business and this seemed like a natural fit with our own facilities and ethos of the business. We have already had a great response and with the new Government funding available for 30 hours of free childcare, we expect the demand to grow.”

The couple own two further nurseries – ‘Little Folks’ in Kingstanding and Erdington – where they provide childcare facilities for 120 children between the ages of birth and five years old, rated ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ in their latest Ofsted report. In addition, they provide before and after school clubs on school premises in Lapworth, Solihull, Erdington and Pype Hayes areas. The business employs 28 members of staff and will be recruiting more staff for the new facility in the coming months.

Funding for the new nursery was provided by Barclays. Manoj Patel, relationship director at the bank said: “Raj and Jyoti have worked hard to build a good reputation in the sector. They have plans to expand the business further and have a number of innovative ideas on how to move the business forward. I am delighted we have been able to support them with their latest expansion.”

Last month, the couple also offered a ‘crèche’ for young children at this year’s BBC Good Food show and Baby Show.
