Golfers tee off on charity round to support Acorns Children's Hospice
Golfers helped raise around £7,500 after teeing off for a round in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice.
A charity golf day was held by David Wilson Homes East Midlands, based in Leicester, to raise funds for Acorns, which is fundraising to safeguard its hospice in Walsall.
A total of 95 people headed for the fairway to take part in the tournament, held at Willesley Park Golf Club in Ashby.
Acorns aims to raise £2 million to ensure it can continue to run the service.
Vicki Rowles, head of fundraising at Acorns, said: "We’re hugely grateful to David Wilson Homes and everyone who took part in the golf day for raising such a stunning amount.
“The money raised will go directly towards families across the Black Country who rely on our specialist services and will bring us a step closer to reaching our Appeal fundraising goal.”
The total raised by the employees was matched by parent company Barratt Developments PLC, taking the contribution to £7,452.70.
John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “The tournament was a great day of golf, made even better knowing that we were raising vital funds for such a worthwhile cause.
“As a leading developer it is our duty to contribute towards local communities in which we build, and we’re very pleased that our golf day was able to raise over £7,400.”
