Police discover cannabis factory in Oldbury swoop

Police discovered a cannabis factory being set up when they swooped on a property in Oldbury.

Acting on a tip-off officers using powers under Section 17 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 out a raid at the premises, in Knottsall Lane, shortly after after 10am on Tuesday.

A suspect, an illegal immigrant, was arrested at the scene near Moat Farm Infant and Our Lady and St Hubert's Catholic Primary schools.

Oldbury Police Station posted on social media network Twitter: "Following a tip off this morning from concerned residents, in Bristnall, the neighbourhood team swooped on an address. Entry forced.

"Cannabis factory being made ready inside. One illegal immigrant arrested. Another example of hitting crime before it gets started!

"A risk to life! Officers using powers under S.17 PACE to enter the address in Bristnall confirmed the electrics were bypassed. Right in the middle of a residential area with a school to the rear. Unbelievable."
