Brownies help Amazon celebrate 200,000th public tour visitor milestone
Amazon surprised a pack of Brownies at its fulfilment centre in Rugeley by revealing they were the 200,000th public tour visitors in the world this year.
The Rugeley fulfilment centre is one of 46 Amazon locations across the UK, US, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic open for free public tours so customers can see what happens after you click ‘buy’.
To mark the milestone the Brownies, aged seven to nine and from Rugeley, searched the shelves for special gifts for their mums and dads.
Some of the items they picked included an electric toothbrush, wireless headphones, an easel artist set and a sandwich maker.
On the tour, the Brownies saw how Amazon stores, picks and packs products that are shipped from Rugeley to customers around the world.
Brown Owl Sian Osborn said: “My Brownies were very lucky to be Amazon’s 200,000th public tour visitors. They had an unforgettable evening picking presents for their families. What a night.”
Gary Norton, Site Leader of Rugeley Fulfilment Centre, said: “We enjoyed welcoming Amazon’s 200,000th public tour visitors in the world this year at Rugeley and delighted the Brownies loved celebrating the milestone. When we told the Brownies they could pick anything they want from the shelves for their families, they grabbed the opportunity and made their way home with some great surprises.
“On behalf of everyone at Amazon in Rugeley and our fulfilment centres around the world, I’d like to thank the guests who have visited on one of our free public tours. We look forward to welcoming the next 200,000 guests to our buildings.”
