The glass and resin-made decorations have been specially-crafted to gather vital funds for Wolverhampton's Compton Care.

Staff and volunteers at the Compton Road West hospice are now hoping to pull in £30,000 to continue funding much-needed care services for the community.

Tracey Doherty, modern matron for community and supportive care services, said: “I know that there are people living locally who have recently been diagnosed with an incurable condition.

"Many will question whether their illness will affect their summer plans but by supporting our Chime to Care appeal, more people will be given the care, support and the encouragement they need to enjoy the warmer months and continue to do the summery things they love the most.2

The two-tone windchimes, which have been ethically sourced, hang 90cm x 8cm and are a red, rose gold colour.

Suitable for both indoor an outdoor display, supporters are being encouraged to offer a suggested donation of £22.

Reaching the appeal's £30,000 target would fund the equivalent of 80 night visits from a healthcare assistant to a patient in their home.

Ms Doherty added: “Now is your ‘Chime to Care.’ By ordering a beautiful windchime, you’ll help fund essential care services.

"A suggested donation of £22 for your windchime will enable more people to access the care services they need both now and in the future.

“You can hang your windchime in a special spot and watch it catch the summer’s light and as it chimes, perhaps you’ll think of the people you will have helped. By supporting our appeal, because of you, local people will be supported to take charge of their loves and enjoy the best summer possible.”

Compton Care, formerly Compton Hospice, supports people living with a complex, long term or incurable condition across the Black Country, Staffordshire and Shropshire.

For the past three years, the charity launched its sunflower appeal and called on supporters to sponsor or purchase one of three different-coloured flowers.

The appeals brought in £100,000 for the hospice, which has been supporting patients for more than 35 years.
