Green spaces blooming with colourful flowers will open this weekend – despite showers being forecast.

Gardens will be on full display as showers look set to arrive in between spells of sunshine, with temperatures hitting around 16C (60.8F).

In Staffordshire, four gardens will open as part of the National Open Garden Scheme.

A one-and-a-half care sloping garden a Victorian house near Stone will be one of the gardens on display.

It features herbaceous borders, roses, rhododendrons a small pond - and an organic vegetable garden.

The Old Vicarage also features a waterfall, jetty, fishing hut, acer and fern glade plus an arboretum.

A green spot in Little Haywood, a village near Stafford, hides a secret bursting with colour - having been created over 30 years.

The Secret Garden, a half-acre space, features trees shrubs, perennials, 1,000 bulbs and laced with clematis.

Other features include water, laburnum, a rose tunnel, and a gazebo with views over Cannock Chase.

Further afield in Staffordshire, green spaces are open in Burton-On-Trent and Leek.

Wild Wood Lodge features a two-acre garden with an orchard featuring - featuring apples, pears and plums.

It features herbaceous borders, shrubs, ornamental trees, wildlife pond and fishing lake.

Colour Mill in Leek features a one-and-a-half acre garden, featuring mature trees, organic vegetable patch, greenhouse and seven foot beech hedges.

People visiting Shropshire can see four gardens on full display.

Preen Manor, Church Preen, will showcase rodgersias, primula japonica, rhododendrons

and cedars in the space near the former manor house.

The six-acre garden features a stream, pebble garden and an orchard amongst the ruins.

An acre of garden which has evolved over 24 years will also open Bishops Castle.

The Mount showcases pink and white English roses, herbaceous and mixed shrubs borders.

It also features daffodils and tulips, two large beech trees and a view of the Long Mynd.

A village garden featuring a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees, will be open this weekend.

The green space at Church Street, Ruyton-XI-Towns, also features a summer house, vegetable area and a greenhouse.

Admission into the garden also gives you access to another nearby garden.

The green space at Cross Villas, School Road, features an array of colourful flowers and plants.

And a garden in Bridgnorth, near Wolverhampton, features clematis, roses, primulas, iris and bog plants.

The space is divided into sections – all linked by winding paths.
