Ward 14 at the hospital is closed due to the highly contagious infection.

A spokesman for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust said: "A temporary visitor restriction is necessary on this ward to protect patients, their families and carers and trust staff."

Relatives and friends of patients who are critically ill or receiving end of life care are being asked to contact the Nurse in Charge on 01922 721172 ext. 6731 so arrangements can be made for visiting at this time.

All other ward areas, including the Emergency Department, are open as usual.

Anyone worried about symptoms should contact their Pharmacy, GP or NHS 111 helpline by telephone.
