Iso Sushi opened its doors to the homeless

Wolverhampton's Iso Sushi decided to welcome in the new year by opening its doors to homeless people.

Lashings of oriental treats were dished out to the city's vulnerable during the three-hour initiative on New Year's Day.

Yusuf Ahmed, of Iso Sushi, said: "It was nice for them to have the experience of coming to a restaurant and being fed, and I think they enjoyed themselves as well.

"There were all smiles and laughter, it was good. We were giving them extra and they couldn't finish it."

Staff at the Chapel Ash restaurant are now hoping they will be able to host a banquet for the homeless again in the future.

Mr Ahmed, who lives in Tettenhall, added: "It was the first time and I'm hoping to make it something we do on a regular basis in a few months or so.

"We did it just to give back. I always say it's good to help people when we have got so much ourselves.

"I just wanted to give back to the community, back to less privileged people."
