Car crushed as van rolls over in Smethwick crash

Three people are reported to have run away from the crash.

It was a lucky escape after a three-car smash left a driver and two passengers uninjured.

A small white van ended on its side and a black car's front was crushed in the incident, which took took place at around 11.30pm on Christmas Eve.

Fire crews from Ladywood and West Bromwich attended the scene on St Pauls Road in Smethwick.

One of the vehicles, which smashed into two stationary vehicles, is feared to have been stolen as eyewitnesses told of three people scattering from the scene.

Ladywood Fire crew commander Mike Long said: "It was a three-car RTC with no injuries.

"Three people made off before we got there, eye witnesses told us.

"One car hit two stationary vehicles."

West Midlands Police refused to comment.
