Woman in hospital after bus stop crash in Bushbury

A woman has been taken to hospital after her car smashed into a bus stop.

The woman, aged in her 50s, hit the stop on Bushbury Lane, Bushbury, Wolverhampton, at around 8.20am today.

She was cut out of her car by eight firefighters.

Two fire crews attended the scene from Fallings Park fire station – one in a fire appliance and the other in a brigade response vehicle.

The road was shut by police while the woman was rescued.

One ambulance attended the scene.

The woman taken to New Cross Hospital for treatment to her neck and back.

Police contacted West Midlands Travel to make repairs to the bus stop.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said that the woman was treated for minor back and neck pain along with bruising to her legs.

Police remained at the scene until 10am.
