The festive duo made a special stop in the city, surprising delighted schoolchildren as they went by on Friday.

Children from Woodfield Infant and Junior School beamed in amazement as they spotted the famous faces stroll into school.

Santa decided to drop by at the Woodfield Avenue school with just one of his reindeer, leaving the rest of his four-legged friends at home.

Dressed in nothing other than his signature red suit and black boots, he invited the youngsters into the school hall for a rare encounter with the reindeer.

Waves of youngsters eagerly surrounded the pair for a closer view, while whispering their Christmas wishes to their guests.

They also donned their favourite festive-themed jumpers and Christmas hats as part of a nationwide fundraiser.

Youngsters and adults across the country threw on their winter woollies as they marked Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day on Friday.
