The Co-op store in Warstones, Wolverhampton, is set to re-open its doors to loyal customers on Monday after closing to make way for the new-look shop.

Co-op bosses hope the Investment will help the store transform into a 'community hub', while creating an additional five jobs

Store manager Adrian Boote said: "This is a significant investment for our Penn store, we would like to thank customers for their understanding during the works which promise to deliver a fantastic new-look store to better serve our community.

"The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum. Our ambition is to establish the store as a local hub, an asset for the community."

The first phase of the makeover at the Warstones Road store will be completed by Monday but developers will continue to operate across the shop for the next month.

Parts of the store will be temporarily closed to make way for remaining work to take place as the team prepare for the official relaunch event next month.

The transformation will see a new shop layout, as well as a new refrigeration area for chilled and frozen goods.

Shoppers will also be treated to an 'enhanced' bakery alongside a stronger focus on fresh products, healthy foods, meal ideas, award winning wines and essentials items.

Good causes across the city, which will be revealed next month, are also set to receive a funding boost when customers pop into the refurbished store.

Co-op's Local Community Fund will see the store donate one per cent to Black Country-based charities and organisations each time a shopper purchases Co-op branded products and swipes their membership card.

Customers will also receiver a five per cent reward to spend or save, the company confirmed.

Mr Boote added: "We want shoppers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op. We are also giving back to the community.

"Our members can make a difference locally, simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us they can raise much needed funding for organisations in the area who contribute to improving local life."

People looking to apply for the new jobs at the store are encouraged to pop along and speak with the manager.
