Youngsters from the Upper School at Highfields School began performances on Tuesday and the last show takes place tomorrow (FRIDAY).

Among those starring in the production are Owen Whittle as Gomez, Emily Longman as Wednesday and Sophie Bates as Morticia.

Sharon Bishop, head of performance at Highfields, said: "We're all very excited for the performance, many many hours of hard work has gone into this, we've been rehearsing since June.

"We think this is going to be our best show yet, or certainly our most challenging for the students.

"There's pyrotechnics, smoke and all kinds of drama. It's a really funny, modern script too with a great score of original rock music."

The annual school musical is a highlight for students at the school and sees a full-scale production staged across four nights after the autumn half-term.

Every student is encouraged to take part in the production, whether they want a leading role, perform in the chorus, play in the orchestra or help backstage.

Sharon added: "We're very inclusive with our shows and any student who auditions will be in the show, which can be unusual for school musicals.

"We're all about participation as much as the end product."

Tickets can be purchased online through the school's website.
