He’s here to entertain, and he’s certainly doing just that in the Black Country this week.

The 55-year-old, who plays washed-up entertainer Archie Rice in the play, said that despite the seriousness of the show the audience had been “lovely” so far.

The last time Richie, best known as Alfie Moon in EastEnders, was at the Grand Theatre was in Boogie Nights during the late 1990s so he has been enjoying revisiting the city.

And he will be returning again in June next year in the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

He said: “They’ve got a Forbidden Planet so I’m happy. I’m a big sci-fi fan. We went to the cinema at Bentley Bridge. I saw Ad Astra but walked out half way through.

“It was just so long-winded. People kept asking me where Kat was as well.”

Shane starred alongside Jessie Wallace, who played his girlfriend Kat Slater in EastEnders.

He added: “I think I might visit Wolverhampton Art Gallery too, but I’m looking for recommendations too.”

Diana, 28, found fame in 2008 when she became a semi-finalist on The X Factor.

She has also been exploring the city during her stay saying: “The Wolverhampton Grand is just beautiful. I love it. I was last here when I was in the Rocky Horror Show.

"I went to this gorgeous sushi place, which was very good.

“And I went to see Joker at the cinema, but I just felt emotionally drained after. I can’t believe I have to go on stage now.”

The Entertainer runs at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre until Saturday night with tickets still on sale.
