Secga Theatre Company will put on A Bunch of Amateurs at the Towers Theatre at Tettenhall College, Tettenhall, from Thursday to Saturday.

Tony Stamp, from the group, said it is written by Ian Hislop from Have I Got News For You and Nick Newman, a satirical cartoonist.

He said: "It's a comedy about a fading Hollywood action hero who has reached the end of his line and his agent doesn't know what to do with him so puts him forward to play King Lear in what he thinks is Stratford-upon-Avon but it's actually in a little village called Stratford and it's a village theatre group.

"It's quite a funny situation in the first place and there's a lot of friction between him and some of the other actors in the group.

"By the end of the play the whole situation has changed.

"Apparently it was written by them first as a film and after that it was developed into a play."

The show starts at 7.30pm and doors open at 7pm.

Tickets are £8 and they can be bought on the door on the night, or by ringing 01902 337908, or by visiting ticketsource.co.uk/secga-theatre-company
