Q in the Park gets Pulses going in Stafford - GALLERY
A town centre park was filled with dancing and music during a weekend of free performances.
The Q in the Park event, which has taken place in Stafford’s Victoria Park since 2011, showcases local talent.
This weekend's even was the last in the park until work starts on the multi-million pound redevelopment, which is set to begin at the end of September.
Among the artists performing were founding member of Steel Pulse, Basil Gabbidon, and Stafford-based rock band Juniper Wolf, who was headlining on Sunday.
Organiser Lorraine Conkey was delighted with how the festival went.
She said: “We had loads going on. There was music on the band stand and loads of dance troupes.
“It’s been very hectic leading up to but it’s worth it seeing the whole thing come together. It’s by the community for the community, which is brilliant. Everyone comes together."
The event was originally launched to entertain the hundreds of people who queued for V Festival buses outside the train station and has carried on ever since.
“We keep it free and all the bands come along and play for free. It’s really come to be a nice little festival right in the heart of Stafford.”
The Town Crier Peter Taunton opened the event on Saturday at 11am and was followed by a full programme of live music from rock to reggae, pop to country on the bandstand right through two days until 5pm.
This year there was a special medieval theme.
Jason Griffin, aged 30, and drummer of Juniper Wolf, said: “It’s been really great playing this year. We’ve never done this festival before but it went well.
“Hopefully they keep it going as it’s a great way to showcase local musicians and artists in the heart of Stafford.”
