That's the words of a talented singer who is hoping her charity single inspires a new generation of 'warriors'.

Kat Richards is launching her solo career with a self-penned track Warrior bursting with an empowering message.

The song is now being used to front a campaign raising awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and to help a charity-backed cause.

"It has been getting a great reaction and we can't wait for more people to hear it," said Kat, who has been performing for more than a decade as actress and singer.

Over the years Kat has been working with the band Dexter at shows and events across the country.

And now the 34-year-old, who hails from Brierley Hill and now lives in Kinver, is working on solo projects.

She wrote the song Warrior which urges people to stand up and not let any issues define them.

It has been picked up by friends Matt Bishop, the owner of Inspire Music recording studio, based in Stone near Stafford, and Marc Cotterill, a music producer who lives with Cystic Fibrosis.

"Marc heard the song and said that it really struck a cord with him," she said.

"Warrior means the world to me.

"Not only because it's my first single as a solo singer but because of the meaning behind it."

Now the trio are helping launch Kat's solo career by releasing the song.

Money raised with the single will go towards the charitable cause, the CF Holiday Fund, to help fund trips and respite breaks for families affected by the condition.

And Marc hopes the single will also help raise awareness of the drug Orkambi which is licensed for use in the UK but not currently provided by the NHS.

"For the first time people with Cystic Fibrosis have something to hang their hopes for a better life on," said Marc.

"Whether this project will help in anyway towards that cause I don't know.

"But we have a song and music connects people so who knows what we could achieve."

It is hoped the single will have a full release in the new year.

There's also plans to release a video and the group are hoping to attract people to take a starring role.
