Beverley Knight hits right notes with Black Country pupils
A Wolverhampton singing star hit the right note with school pupils after making a visit back to the Black Country.
Beverley Knight visited Uplands Junior School on Finchfield Road West in Wolverhampton yesterday to take an assembly with the children and talk about where dreams and aspirations can take people.
It's part of a number of initiatives the school have been running throughout the year to promote positivity and well-being among pupils, culminating in the school being awarded outstanding for it being a happy and positive learning space.
This includes the Singing Playgrounds scheme that Beverley got involved in, as she stepped outside and sang with the children.
The rest of her two-and-a-half hour visit included vocal workshops with year six students and presentations.
Headteacher Suzanne Webster-Smith said: "It's been fabulous and has been all about creating a positive and happy environment and ethos.
"Beverley spoke about how she has had to be resilient in her life and how far hard work can get people.
"There's a real buzz around the school.
"It's been very important to have her come, he comes from a similar background with a similar ethos and she can inspire the children to think this could be them."
