Following hot the heels of their whirlwind UK tour The Good Water are now ready to bring some Christmas cheer to music fans with their first-ever headline show.

The three-piece top a three-band line-up at The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on December 22 and are looking forward to ending their year on another high note.

Having travelled to Cardiff, Dublin, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham and London in little over a week during the end of October and early November, supporting Canadian rock band The Sheepdogs, their following has moved up a notch.

So much so the Birmingham-based band now have musicians calling them up and asking to perform on their own bills.

First up is The Good Water's first-ever gig in Worcester on Sunday, where they will be supporting Nuns of the Tundra at The Marrs Bar, in Pierpoint Street.

"They called us up and asked us to support them, going through our manager, Carlo," said lead singer and guitarist, Rob Clements.

"We also played at the Dark Horse pub in Moseley last month, supporting Swedish band Les Big Byrd.

"Again, they had heard of us and asked us to be part of their show, so it's going in the right direction at the moment.

"Supporting another international band was also a good experience."

The UK tour ended on November 5, with a sell-out show at Borderline in London, which had followed hot on the heels of their stunning sell-out Birmingham gig at the Actress & Bishop (which was reviewed by the Express & Star).

Clements, 33, from Redditch, drummer and backing singer Tom Fisher, 32, from Yardley Wood, and Keyboard player, Stuart Webb, 38, from Great Barr, who also provides backing vocals, admitted the tour had been their greatest run of gigs to date.

"It was brilliant," said Fisher. "Both bands just progressively got better as the tour went on so by the Birmingham and London gigs everything just worked."

"Playing so regularly made such a massive difference and we all knew exactly what we were doing before each show.

"It was great to see The Sheepdogs too, especially their showmanship because they were on another level to us.

"We thought our first gig in Dublin had gone really well – and it had too – but when they came on we realised we really had to up our game.

"London was probably our favourite because we were able to get a weekend's worth of rest and everyone was more chilled out.

"Before the Birmingham gig we were so nervous because it was our home town show but it went really well and the whole place was packed out.

"We probably should've been more worried about London, especially as there were more than 300 in the crowd, but after the buzz of Birmingham it just went so smoothly, plus The Sheepdogs wanted to perform at their best because it was the capital too."

Next up for the band is a headline slot at popular music venue The Sunflower Lounge, in Smallbrook, Queensway, on December 22.

And they will be supported by fellow Birmingham bands Kinds of Light, Giant and The Georges. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

They hope their new found followers and growing fame, which has also been boosted by the great reception they have received from their latest single release and music video, Tell Me What To Do, will ensure it is another sell out.

Tell Me What To Do has already received rave reviews from XS Noise, Born Music and Live4ever, as well as being strongly supported by BBC Introducing WM and Janice Long on BBC Radio Wales.

"We're aiming to release another single too in March and we'll be going back to the same places in Dublin, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham and London we played with The Sheepdogs as part of another tour," said Clements.

"We got some great feedback and they all asked us to come back and play again.

"But for now our focus is on The Sunflower Lounge because it's our first headline slot and we really want it to be a great night for everyone.

"We've just added Giant and The Georges to the line up too. They saw us play at Lunar Festival and asked to support us, which was nice to hear, so we're looking forward to playing with them and Kinds of Light.

"There are still some tickets left so please get in touch because it's going to be a great night."

Tickets costing £6.60 are available at birminghampromoters.seetickets.com or The Good Water Facebook page.
