The New Saints will be performing at charity gig 'Rock for Spon' for the seventh year running on Saturday in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Compton Care.

Held at the Robin 2 hotel in Bilston, 'Rock for Spon' began after the tragic death of New Saints bassist and founder Andy 'Spon' Spencer who fought a two-year battle with cancer.

The gig continues to grow stronger each year with the support of local bands, including Piston, 4Q, and Wayne 'Boon' Jones, and local residents who always come forward to help.

The New Saints are made up of Connor Emms, Mitchell Emms, Dez Wootton, Jon Hayward and Rob Grosvenor.

Member Connor Emms said: "By doing what Spon loved most and including people that loved him seemed the most appropriate way to give something back."

All funds raised from this event are donated to Compton Care, who helped Andy in his final hours.

The charity, formerly known as Compton Hospice, provides comfort and care to ill people across the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire in their own home.

Tickets for the Rock for Spon gig cost £8 in advance or £9 on the door.
