GALLERY: Vegan Fair proves a hit in Walsall

Hundreds of people attended a free vegan fair at Walsall Town Hall this weekend.

The event saw dozens of traders selling vegan food, clothing and cosmetics at the Walsall Vegan Fair on Saturday.

The fair has attracted more than 2,000 people during its last two visits to Walsall – and organisers said they had more than 1,700 through the doors on Saturday.

Stalls were selling vegan cakes, pastries, pies, sweets and chocolate, as well as clothing, cosmetics and men and women's perfumes. Caters were also offering vegan Indonesian food, curries, mac and cheese and double stack burgers.

Visitors could find out more about becoming a vegan and health and environmental benefits behind it, as well as picking up recipes and tips for cooking.

Kevin White, founder of Midlands Vegan Campaigns, which has organised the event, said: "We were extremely happy with the numbers of people attending the fair and we had various stalls selling out two or three hours before the event finished.

"It was extremely busy and people were buying the products – and more importantly people were looking to make themselves more aware and find out about the issues surrounding veganism and the benefits of going vegan.

"The event is ideal for Walsall – every town needs an annual vegan fair. It is my intention to put these kinds of events on all across the West Midlands."
