Eat Ronnie? You must be barking mad

Would you eat a cake that looks just like your dog?

Well, Staffordshire baker Leanne Foster has whipped up exactly that - and it looks eerily realistic.

The military lorry driver turned cake designer has created a giant-sized version of her friend's tiny French bulldog Ronnie - created entirely out of eggs, sugar, flour, butter and icing.

The 30-year-old from Rugeley has not even been a baker for long. But after serving in the army for five years and working in a pharmacy Leanne now runs her own business, Cake House.

She created the French bulldog cake to look exactly like the beloved furry friend, simply for fun.

But the hardest thing about it? Seeing it being eaten, she said.

"I couldn't watch," Leanne admitted.

With positive online reviews it's hard to believe that the mother of two had never baked before starting her new business.

It was only after scrolling through cake designs online that Leanne found herself thinking about how she would design her own creations differently. So she decided to pick up a bag of flour and give it a go herself.

The mother-of-two is now looking at branching out to wedding cakes, but the challenge of creating something completely outside of the box means that she'll always be up for making more animal lookalikes.

She added: "I've got quite a few dog cakes to make in the next few months now."

The baker will be appearing at NEC's Cake International event in Birmingham from November 2-4.
