They also come a little small, so bear this is mind when ordering - the website recommends going a size above what you would normally buy.

It is made using 100 per cent New York corn, and distilled in tiny two-gallon barrels and bass from music is used to 'agitate' the cask and whiskey, which the creators say impacts the flavour.

5 out of 5

TP-LINK M7450 4G+ MiFi

This mobile wifi hotspot is ideal for the busy dad always on the move, or indeed the traveller who likes to remain connected.

It is very easy to set up, though do bear in mind it requires a sim and SD card.

The device is sleek, with an attractive digital display that offers a range of options to monitor date usage and display speeds.

It also boasts an excellent 15-hour battery life.

Though very efficient, modern-day phones are able to do much of what this device does, such as creating internet hotspots.

Video Doorbell 2 - £179 -

4 out of 5

Video Doorbell 2

This device is less straightforward than we had hoped to set up, but once sorted the picture quality of the camera is outstanding.

The app which is used with a mobile phone to access the doorbell's camera is good, but users must commit to a monthly subscription to make use of it which, after already buying the product, is a little disappointing.

Another issue is the amount of time it takes to load the image when the doorbell is rang - long enough certainly for someone to have rang and walked away.

It is very attractive, however, and cleverly allows users to record clips of those at their door.

It also has a handy feature which allows it to be hard-wired, meaning it need not be recharged.

Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Chrome Edition Razor - £9.99 -

5 out of 5

4 out of 5

Tefal Toast N' Egg - £49.99 - Asda

3.5 out of 5

Tefal Toast N' Egg

Gift dad the ultimate easy breakfast machine this Father's Day, with a tool that enables them to make egg and toast, or beans and toast all in one.

The toaster on the machine is a little limited, however, with the bread slots being a little small, and lacking sufficient power to toast other bread items such as crumpets.

It is great for eggs, however, as it enables users to either poach muffin-sized eggs on the poaching tray or hard boil them in the steamer tray.

It also features a warming tray for heating pre-cooked meats.

The device is efficient, easy to use, and the plates are very simple to change.

An excellent gift for foodie dads of all ages.

La Hacienda Heatmaster Popular 2000w Patio Heater - £99.99 -

5 out of 5

La Hacienda Heatmaster Popular 2000w Patio Heater

This excellent heater is easy to set up and ideal for dads who enjoy dining al fresco or hosting garden parties.

As soon as these are turned on, the heat can be felt immediately - though it is not too intense, the heat is sufficient to be used up until late September; possibly even later.

The ability to switch two of the four lights off individually is great, but it would be even better if each could be controlled on their own.

It's very affordable, sturdy and not too power hungry either at 1,800w.

Ecco Elias casual belt - £74.99 -

5 out of 5

Ecco Elias casual belt

This belt is a real luxury item and worth every penny if it's something you wear daily.

It's genuine leather and very high quality as it's thick and has that lovely 'real' smell. It's nice and sturdy too, no danger of the notches slipping and a trouser malfunction. The buckle is a heavyweight strong affair and keeps everything in place.

It comes with a small hessian drawstring bag, perfect for protecting it when storing it in a cupboard to prevent any marks from scratching.

A worthwhile investment as it will go the distance and last for a long time.

Federico II AD 1194 Verdicchio 2015 - £80 per case (£13.33 per bottle) - (OVER 18s ONLY)

5 out of 5

Federico II AD 1194 Verdicchio 2015

This white wine is a 100 per cent Verdicchio so no other grape varieties are blended with it. You can tell, it's very smooth.

From opening the slim, classy bottle and hearing the cork (yes, cork - these days screw tops rule the shelves) pop you know you're in for a treat. It's posh stuff. It is very crisp and sweet but not quite dessert wine territory. It is full-bodied with light citrus notes making it a perfect summer wine.

At 14 per cent there's the danger of it going to your head but this is the kind of wine you want to sip and savour as it's so exquisite.

Roku Streaming Stick+ - £59 -

4 out of 5

Roku Streaming Stick+

These days most TVs come with Netflix and all the terrestrial on demand channels etc. But if you have an older model television or one that's not quite top-of-the-range, this will come in particularly handy.

It's super easy to install. Put the stick into a USB slot on the back of your TV set, plug in to the adaptor and follow the quick and simple instructions. You will have to set up a Roku account – it takes a few minutes – and provide card payment details but you only pay for anything that you approve. Then you are ready to go.

There are options to download all sorts of apps but just be mindful of the ones that you will be charged for the content. If you're a film fan it will give you plenty of options for movie apps.

It's certainly cheaper than forking out for a new TV and is great to upgrade an older set.

Bodega Mayo Garcia: Magnanimvs Platino 2015 - £64 per case (£10.67 per bottle) - (OVER 18s ONLY)

5 out of 5

Bodega Mayo Garcia: Magnanimvs Platino 2015

33 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon, 33 per cent Merlot and 33 per cent Shiraz

We were advised that this was a 'Marmite' type of wine – you either love it or hate it. It is certainly an acquired taste and has a distinctive aroma. It's very grapey and the flavours were extremely rich and very fruity.

The deep purple wine isn't one to rushed but should be supped slowly to fully enjoy the hints of spice and it almost verges on a rioja in its flavours. It would be the perfect accompaniment to a summer barbecue sipping on a glass in the shade of a tree and equally quaffed with a roast beef dinner along with a roaring log fire on a cold winter's day.

A very special wine worth every penny.

Eyejusters black combination - £79 -

4 out of 5

This excellent glasses are an ideal gift for dads who require reading glasses; particularly if they enjoy hobbies which require working with small objects or attention to detail.

Thanks to a handy cog-like adjuster either side of the frames, these glasses allow the user to vary the lenses as desired - from +0.50D to +4.00D.

Made with stainless steel frames at the front and acetate sides frames, they are hard-wearing, while looking nice too. Anti-scratch coating is also included, ensuring even greater durability.

They must be adjusted to exactly the right measurement required when used for long periods of time, however, otherwise the user can be left with eye ache.

Due to their highly useful adjustable function, the lenses themselves can look a little odd - but are very practical.

Il Gusto's FassZotti - priced from £5 for 50ml to £40 for 700ml in a wide range of bottles - (OVER 18s ONLY)

5 out of 5

Il Gusto's FassZotti

A German version of the classic Italian after-dinner digestif, this drink is the ideal way to end a meal - and a perfect gift for the adventurous dad who likes to try unsual alcoholic beverages.

Similar in taste to the classic German liqueur Jägermeister, FassZotti is light and sweet, with a distinct - yet not overpowering - aftertaste of bitters. It does have flavours of herbs, though nowhere near as strong as Jägermeister, as well as a hint of mint.

At 30 per cent ABV, this is lovely on its own and requires no ice or accompanying mixer.

Il Gusto is a great site for boozy gifts too, allowing customers to select their liqueur or spirit, the bottle size and design, and even add a free gift message as desired.

Jägermeister Father’s Day Gift Pack - £39.99 - (OVER 18s ONLY)

5 out of 5

Even for the seasoned beer enthusiast, this 16-bottle set provides the opportunity to try something new with more unusual beers such as 8.5 per cent Belgian blond Delirium Tremens and the 7.5 per cent Trappist and Abbey Rochefort Six included.

It's not for the feint-hearted however, with beers of up to 11.3 per cent in the set.

Weber Smokey Joe Premium 37cm Charcoal Barbecue - £62 -

5 out of 5

Weber Smokey Joe Premium 37cm Charcoal Barbecue

For all those avid barbecuers I apologise, as for the last 10 years I have been using a gas barbecue. I know it's cheating, so when I was offered the opportunity to try the Weber Smokey Joe I jumped at the chance to go charcoal.

From taking the Smokey Joe from the box, to cooking our favourite pork steaks to perfection only took a matter of minutes thanks to the easy-to-follow instructions.

The Smokey Joe also has a weather-proof lid enabling you to get that beautiful smoky flavour; something my gas barbecue lacks.

Being very portable the Smokey Joe basically lets you feast wherever the mood takes you. It's weatherproof, extremely durable with a fire and rust-resistant lid and bowl, both crafted from a steel and porcelain combination. So once finished and the coals have cooled, simply close the lid and you're away.

If you're in the market for a quality, go-anywhere barbecue that looks and cooks brilliantly, I can fully recommend the Weber Smokey Joe.

The Wilkinson's Sword Hydro 5 Sense - £12 - Boots

5 out of 5

The Wilkinson's Sword Hydro 5

Razors can be a pricey product but this one proves that it pays to splash out to get a decent shave.

The Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Sense razor doesn't disappoint. Unlike other razors, there was no hacking away at the face desperately trying to rid it of any hair.

One stroke across the cheek and all fuzz was gone leaving super soft and smooth skin.

With five blades, shock absorption and gel strip, this is shaving luxury. The blades ensure a close shave, the shock absorption allows you to control the pressure of the shave and the gel strip hydrates the skin.

It's worth the money and left the face fuzz-free without any rogue hairs for a lot longer.

Goldfinger by Ian Fleming - £34.95 -

4 out of 5

For the dad who loves to delve into a good book, invest in a beautiful tale from The Folio Society.

A perfect novel to celebrate Father’s Day is Ian Fleming’s Goldfinger that tells the tale of the grand-daddy of all spies, James Bond.

Originally titled The Richest Man in the World, Goldfinger introduces the terrifying Oddjob and master thief Pussy Galore into the world of James Bond, with death-defying consequences.

Illustrator Fay Dalton returns to bring these characters to life with exquisite new drawings throughout the Folio Society as well as a gold foil and embroidered cover which makes the book feel more like a piece of art.

Goldfinger came complete with a hard card sleeve to protect the book from damage, as well as a personalised card that informed me who had handled my copy of the book - a wonderful touch that added another loving layer to the gift.

Williams Elegant Gin with Gift Box - £41.95 - (OVER 18s ONLY)

5 out of 5

Williams Elegant Gin with Gift Box

Gin loving dads will be sipping their drinks with glee when they receive the Williams Elegant Gin Gift Box this Father’s Day.

Williams Elegant Gin is the first and only gin to be distilled from apples. Unlike most other gins, that redistill a neutral grain spirit, Elegant Gin is made by first pressing Chase Farm Cider apples, fermenting the juice into cider, then distilling it into Naked Chase Apple Vodka.

The apple spirit is then distilled with 11 wild botanicals in a small Carter-Head Still.

The gin boasts a beautiful smooth texture and crisp notes of juniper and citrus as well as sweet tones of sharp apple.

This exquisite flavour makes it perfect to be drank neat over ice, or accompanying different mixers for summer-themed cocktails.

This gin is presented in an elegant white gift box that befits its sophisticated taste, and finished with a comical bow tie around the neck of the bottle for that extra finishing touch.

Patrón Añejo - £50.45 - and (OVER 18s ONLY)

For the dad that loves the sharp tang of tequila, treat them to the exquisite flavour of Patrón Añejo.

Patrón Añejo is carefully blended and oak aged for over 12 months to produce a smooth, sweet tequila perfect for sipping on a hot summer’s day.

I am not normally a fan of tequila, but on trying this beverage with my partner and father I was won around by the subtle notes of vanilla, honey and raisins blended with citrus.

Packaged in a striking yellow box illustrated with Patrón’s signature bee logo, a bottle of Patrón Añejo is worth every penny you spend on it.

Zippo Classic Satin Chrome lighter - £17.45-

4.5 out of 5

Zippo Classic Satin Chrome lighter

As the packaging says, 'from timeless design to the unmistakable click' there certainly is something about an original Zippo lighter. I've used cheaper copies in the past and you can tell the quality difference in the real thing.

As you flip the lid, the action really feels like it has been engineered, with a satisfying click that rings the metal of the top half of the lighter. It comes with flint and wick, ready to go, just add fuel. The inside slides out and you can easily fill the inside with fluid into the compact material, holding the most amount of fuel.

Back to the packaging, it also states 'the fact that the Zippo windproof lighter has endured, virtually unchanged, for over 80 years', they must be doing something right.

If it's shuts like a golf, maybe it should be opens like a Zippo.

Zippo also offers the opportunity to engrave this lighter, included in the price.

Noble Isle Whisky and Water Bath and Shower Gel - £20 -

4.5 out of 5

Noble Isle

If your dad is fed up with a Lynx box set, then this is a great product to treat him to something a bit more special, but worth it.

The clear well branded bottle shows the amber colour of the gel.

It’s made with extracts of Scottish malted barley, from Dufftown Distilleries, a Speyside region.

It lathers well and after rinsing doesn’t leave any soapy feel, just leaving your skin soft and smelling very fragrant. A very manly scent that is long lasting. You get all the notes from whisky, it’s woody, aromatic and spicy, with hints of vanilla and orange.

Nike Therma Hood FZ - £37.95 -

5 out of 5

Nike Therma Hood FZ

According to my teenage son there are hoodys and there are hoodys.

The ZNE from Adidas is a beauty, the black option particularly, and will be stopping in my wardrobe. Having all the Adidas logos in a smart matt black finish which gives it a understated image, perfect for the older member of the family.

It comes with large cuffs with thumb holes to keep the sleeves in place during exercise, deep pockets with zips and a generously-sized hood. Hopefully it will be too big for my wife...

The fabric has a smooth finish, thick enough to keep you warm prior or after a workout.

So if you're looking for the perfect Father's Day gift for clothing lovers or sporty dads (my boys - take note), ZNE would fit the bill whether it be down the gym or in pub watching the World Cup. Come on England.

Celia Organic Lager - £2.49 - Available from Waitrose, Oddbins, Ocado and Tesco (OVER 18s ONLY)

5 out of 5

The saying less is more, I always question, but in the case it is indeed true. Have been told less wheat and gluten in my diet would be advisable.

Amazingly I found most of my favourite treats were out of bounds. This was until I was asked to try Celia Lager.

Being both Gluten-free and organic it ticked all the boxes. But the biggest tick came from the taste.

Compared to the normal bottled beers I have tried Celia had a richer flavour with a smooth finish. I was that surprised I ask a friend to try and he too agreed.

An added bonus is the lack of sulphates and calories, 139 per bottle. So if your looking for a crisp refreshing lager to hit the spot whether you're gluten-free or not I would highly recommend try this tipple.

Oxford Charcoal - from £14 -

4.5 out of 5

Oxford Charcoal

With more and more people wanting to know where the food they eat comes from, it’s important not to forget where the key flavour comes when cooking food on the bbq.

Oxford Charcoal is gourmet charcoal, made from single species British trees. There’s no nasty chemicals in it, meaning the only flavouring is the true wood smoke.

It was in larger lumps than I’ve had previously from your ‘supermarket’ kind. Using a coal starter and 1 natural wood wool fire lighter, it’s easy to catch and fast lighting.

They offer a range of woods to pair with different food, and not just charcoal, they supply logs, small and large, to use with your longer cook and offset smoking. If you haven’t tried it, you should.
