Black Country Festival: Huge range of events revealed with 99 days to go until Black Country Day - see full the list so far here

With 99 days left until the special day, a month's worth of celebrations are now being firmed up across the region for Black Country Festival - including a large family fun day in Dudley town centre.

Other events lined up include Gornal Fun Day, a fun run in Halesowen, Halesowen Carnival, Stourbridge Carnival, Brierley Hill's Brier Fair and more.

Black Country Day officially takes place on July 14. The Dudley fun day, set to include live entertainment in Stone Street Square, a 'radio roadshow', vintage cars and motorbikes, and stalls, will take place on this date to mark the occasion.

A full list of events lined up so far for the celebration, taking place between June 30 and July 29, is below.

Looking ahead to the festival, Mayor of Dudley Councillor Dave Taylor promised the festivities 'won't disappoint'.

“We want to see people flying their Black Country flag with pride and support the many events taking place to celebrate the region we call home," he added.

Chairman of Black Country Festival, Dave Brownhill, meanwhile, encouraged people to get stuck in and come up with their own events.

“Now in its fifth year, the festival owes many of its successes to the local groups, organisations and volunteers who help make it happen and to the people of the Black Country who turn out each year without fail to support the events," said Mr Brownhill.

“Although we’ve already got some cracking events taking place, there’s still time to get involved and add events to the festival line up.

"I’d urge anyone with a great idea for an event, whether it’s big and small, to get in touch, we’d love to hear all about them.”

Events so far announced:

Saturday, June 30 - Gornal Fun Day

Running from midday till 4pm, this event is set to include Punch and Judy, facepainting, fair rides, a bouncy castle, vintage cars and bikes, a barbecue, a raffle, a combat re-enactment, birds of prey, High Arcal School band, stalls and refreshments.

The historic windmill will also be open to the public.

Sunday, July 1 - Halesowen Fun Run

Runs of 5k and 10k will take place in the Dudley town.

Throughout July - First World War display

The Sandwell Community History and Archives Service in Smethwick High Street will display a selection of treasures relating to the First World War for the month, highlighting the contribution of both the people and industries.

Throughout July - Black Country Film Festival

Held at Tipton Library, the month-long film festival will see a series of films with 'a local flavour' screened.

Sunday, July 1 - Armed Forces Day

This Himley Hall event to mark Armed Forces day will be a free family fun day, with an archery range, paint ball gallery, ex-military vehicle display and vintage children’s rides.

To mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, the event will include a variety of performances from youth marching bands as well as the RAF Cosford Voluntary Band. Highlights will include a veterans badge presentation and an opportunity to meet regiments from across the region.

A vintage fair provided by Halfpenny Green antique and vintage centre, World War history talks and military exhibitions will also feature.

Friday, July 6 - Food Festival

Taking place at The Bonded Warehouse in Canal Street, Stourbridge, will be a food festival to mark the Black Country pride celebrations.

Saturday, July 7 - Halesowen Carnival

This annual event returns once more for 2018, taking place at Highfield Park.

The free-to-enter fair will have two stages showing live entertainment, from singers, to dancers, bands and circus acts.

A third stage, hosted by Black Country Radio, will play music.

There will be free activities for guests to get involved in, as well as a dog show, a teddy bears picnic for youngsters and a tight wire walk in the 'circus corner'.

Also on offer will be a fairground, facepainting, stalls and a 'worldwide food and drink court'.

Saturday, July 7 - Chainmakers Festival

Described as 'the largest celebration in Britain of women's political history' by organisers the Wolverhampton, Bilston and District Trades Union Council (Wolves TUC) the Chainmakers Festival will take place in Cradley Heath High Street.

"It re-enacts the struggle and celebrates the achievements and strugle of the trade union movement both then and now," says the Wolves TUC website.

Running from 11am to 5pm, the family-friendly street festival will include market stalls, fun fair rides, speeches, street theatre, music and debates.

Saturday, July 7 - Tividale Park Fun Day

Held at Tividale Park between 11am and 5pm, this family fun day will include live entertainment throughout the day, including performances from dancers, singers, bands and more.

A children's area at the event will feature three bouncy castles, facepainting, circus skills, magic shows and environmental activities.

There will also be a 'Tividale's Got Talent' contest with prizes up for grabs.

Food, trade and charity stalls will be at the fun day too, as well as a car boot.

Saturday, July 7 - Birmingham and Black Country Half Marathon

Now in its 11th year, organisers of the event say they are expecting in excess of 1,800 competitors.

The run will start from Wolverhampton's British Waterways Canal Dock and end at Birmingham's Brindley Place.

It is open to participants of all abilities.

Saturday, July 7 - Wall Heath Carnival

No information is yet available on this event.

Saturday, July 7 - Netherton Park Fun Day and Music Festival

More than 100 stalls and activities will feature as part of this event, as well as children's rides, food and drink, animal displays, a classic car show, facepainting, inflatables and more.

The fun day at the Northfield Road park will run from 10am till 5pm.

A music festival will also take place at the park on the day, with live bands and dance acts performing across two stages.

Both events are free to attend.

Sunday, July 8 - Willenhall Transport Show

Featuring more than 200 vehicles, this show will take place at Willenhall Memorial Park between 11am and 4pm.

There will also be a go kart grass hill challenge, a tyre challenge, live music, a beer tent and food. It is the first year there has been a go kart challenge and organisers are encouraging groups, clubs, parents and schools to get involved with their own build.

Admission costs £3 or £10 for a family of two adults and two children.

Sunday, July 8 - Stourbridge Carnival

Though no information has yet been announced for this event taking place in Stourbridge town centre, last year's carnival featured an array of stalls, dancing, food and drink.

Tuesday, July 10 - Black Country Art Group event

Held at Tipton Library between 1.30 and 3.30pm, this session is open for members of the public to join the group to sketch local scenes.

Thursday, July 12 - Quiz Night

Glebefield Library in St Mark's Road, Tipton, will host a quiz night on a range of topics, including the Black Country from 7pm to 9pm.

Entry is £1 per team member, with teams limited to a maximum of five people.

Friday, July 13 - Bostin' brew and 'um-med bread puddin'

Rounds Green Library in Martley Road, Oldbury, will be serving tea and homemade bread pudding between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Friday, July 13 - Cuppa 'n' a Cant

Have a tea and a chat at Brandhall Library in Tame Road, Oldbury, to mark Black Country Day.

Runs from 3pm till 4.30pm.

Saturday, July 14 - Dudley Fun Day

On the official date of Black Country Day, this Dudley town centre event will feature live music, street entertainers, a poets corner, live wrestling, arts and crafts stalls and more.

The Stone Street festival will take place between 11am and 5pm.

Saturday, July 14 - Black Country Masters Golf Tournament 2018

This tournament will place at Dudley Golf Club in Rowley Regis on Black Country Day.

Entry fee is £10 for members or £15 for guests.

Food and drink will be available all day.

Saturday, July 14 - Wordsley Carnival

Saturday, July 14 - Shell Corner Food and Drink Festival

This Halesowen event will see cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs inviting the public to taste their food and drink.

There will also be a table top sale.

Saturday, July 14 - Black Country Chamber Choir Colla Voce

Led by Richard Ganner, the choir will perform a programme of classical choral music alongside a chamber orchestra.

Works are set to include Rutter's Magnificat, Monteverdi's Beatus Vir and Vivaldi's Gloria.

Saturday, July 14 - Black Country Day chat and films

A series of locally made films will be screened at the Central Library in West Bromwich between 10am and 3pm.

Saturday, July 14 - Black Country Boredom Buster

Hosted at Stone Cross Library in Beverley Road, West Bromwich, this family-friendly event will feature Black Country-themed crafts and refreshments.

Runs from 11am till 2pm.

Saturday, July 14 - Black Country Trail and Crafts

This hour-long event, running between 11am and 12pm, promises 'fun for all the family'.

Saturday, July 14 - Taye and Caerke

Tea and cake will be served in the garden of Oldbury's Bleakhouse Library between midday and 2pm in celebration of Black Country Day.

Saturday, July 14 - Black Country Variety Show

This annual show will include music, comedy and poetry.

Sunday, July 15 - Brockmoor and Pensnett Black Country Fun Day

This free event will feature live entertainment, mascots, inflatables, fun fair rides, food and refreshments, stalls from local businesses and charities, games and activities.

It will take place at The Dell Stadium in Brierley Hill.

Sunday, July 15 - Stevens Park Fun Day

Held at Stevens Park in Wollescote, this will be the park's first-ever fun day, say organisers.

Saturday, July 21 - Brier Fair

This Brierley Hill high street event returns for a second year this summer after last year's success.

Though no information has yet been released on this event, the 2017 fair had a funfair, giant sandpit, market stalls and street entertainment.

Saturday, July 21 - Within Walking Distance

This event will give members of the public a chance to see a map of Langley's historical and unique landmarks on a map produced by The Friends of Langley Library, alongside an exhibition.

It takes place at Langley Library between 10am and 2pm.

Friday, July 27 - Our Trace

Award-winning comedian Our Trace will perform at Churchill's in Walsall Street, Wednesbury, alongside support.

Doors open at 7pm, bar open till 1am.

Saturday, July 28 - Buskin' For Parkinson's Summer Festival

With entertainment across two stages indoor and out, this charity event will take place at Wolverhampton's The Lighthouse.

The indoor stage, open from 11am till 5pm, will host acoustic music and spoken word.

The courtyard stage, open from 6pm till 10pm, will have electric and acoustic music.

The event will also feature workshops and stalls.
