Worksheets include step by step guides on how to create a 'bug hotel', hedgehog homes, a toilet roll model of a giraffe and more.

The site also has puzzles and art challenges for youngsters to take part in.

Materials can be downloaded here.

The attraction encourages families to share pictures of their creations by sending pictures to photos@dudleyzoo.org.uk or share them on their Facebook page.

Last week it was announced the attraction would be closed until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.

A statement from zoo director Derek Grove said: "The decision was the only available course of action to ensure the safety and well-being of our visitors, staff members and animals and it wasn’t taken lightly – we tried our utmost to stay open but this is ultimately the right decision to protect our community around us.

"Unfortunately we have no idea how long we will remain closed.

"However, we overcame challenges from a prolonged closure in 2000 due to Foot and Mouth and we’re hopeful we can do the same again.

"Rest assured, during this closure it will still be business as usual for our dedicated keeping staff, who will continue to ensure our 1,600-strong animal collection receive the best care possible.

"In the meantime, please keep visiting our social media pages and website, as we’ll continue to bring you updates, photos and videos of our animals and zoo life over the coming months, which we hope will raise a smile during these daunting times.

"Please bear with us over the next few days. If you have any questions or queries we’d ask you to email admin@dudleyzoo.org.uk and we’ll reply as soon as possible."

Grove went on to sat that St George's Day ticketholders would be contacted to arrange refunds as the event has been cancelled.
