The heritage railway attraction will be hosting the open day this Saturday, October 19 from 10am to 4pm.

Anyone interested in getting involved is encouraged to pop along and chat to current volunteers about opportunities available.

Volunteer Dan Weeks said: "We have opportunities for lots of different areas; train crew, locomotive crew, engineers, restaurant staff, station staff, shop workers and officers.

"We are hoping to recruit around 10 to 15 volunteers to add to our team of 45 already. We want to be able to open more in the week, and we can do that if we have more people.

"We welcome people from all walks of life, and you don't have to have any experience either. We provide all the training.

"We don't discriminate at all, and welcome everyone with open arms. I'm actually in a wheelchair myself and have been volunteering for the last 10 years."

The Chasewater Railway is a former colliery railway, now operated as a heritage railway.
