Artists and musicians have been painted by a Codsall man and are now on display in an exhibition.

Ron Satterthwaite, of Codsall, has launched his second exhibition at Codsall Village Hall.

The 70-year-old former engineer has, in the past, painted artists including Lucian Freud, Sir Kyffin Williams and Jean-Michel Basquiat as well as musicians such as Tina Turner. He said: “I’ve had an exhibition there before but it was a different collection of work, these are all portraits.

“I’ve been painting for 50 years as a hobby, but I have done occasional commissions for people.

“They are mostly portraits because I’m a portrait painter and they are of some famous artists.

“I’ve exhibited at numerous venues in the past Wolverhampton, Walsall, Wednesbury, Stafford, Shrewsbury and Wales.

“I have also exhibited in open competitions and was a prize winner on a couple of occasions.

“Last time I had some quite good feedback and some sales too.

“I paint in various styles. I can paint in expressionistic style or representational, it’s how I feel at that time. Sometimes I’m not sure how it will turn our until the first few strokes.”
