The tiny pups were born in the underground burrow around four weeks ago.

They have made their public debut in the outdoor Tecton Reptillary enclosure over the last week much to delight of visitors – joining the zoo’s mob of 13 adults.

Assistant curator, Jay Haywood, said: “The pups are already very confident and have even started to taste their first solid foods, so they will be eating whole mice with the rest of the adults in no time.”

Keepers will have to wait until the pups are around eight weeks old to find out if they are male or female.
