Eagle has landed at Wild Zoological Park

A new arrival has landed at a local zoo and will soar into the popular bird show.

Wild Zoological Park in Bobbington has welcomed new recruit 'Philippe', a bald eagle, that will join up with the rest of the stars on the roster for the zoo's popular 'Wild Wings free flight bird show'.

Phillipe will be in good company as the show also features parrots, eagles, owls and vultures as well as its marabou storks with a massive 12-foot wingspan.

Wild Zoological Park aim to provide a safe and educational environment where the public can learn more about all forms of wildlife.

The bald eagle is the only eagle unique to North America, and lives near bodies of water in Canada and Alaska and in scattered locations throughout the lower parts of America and Mexico.

It's distinctive brown body and white head make it easy to identify. The bird is known to soar and rather than flap its wings it will keep them almost completely flat.

It primarily eats fish, carrion, smaller birds and rodents however eagles are also known to prey on large birds and large fish.

There are a total of about 70,000 bald eagles in North America.
