Beach created at Manor House Museum for family fun
As the sunshine returns families will be flocking to the beach, but in the Black Country they don't have to go far.
The Manor House Museum in West Bromwich has launched its own beach as part of a series of summer holiday activities.
Running throughout August, the beach will be open from 12pm - 3pm on Mondays and Fridays only, with the house only open on Fridays from 11am-3pm. The event is free with small charges for refreshments and crafts.
Coinciding with this event, the museum on Fridays is also putting on Manor House Tours in which they will educate visitors on the house's history from the medieval and Tudor eras and also on the 1960s.
Following events include the Jolly Roger Pirate Party on August 11 and Cartoon Madness August 16.
Constructed in 1270, the Museum is thought to be "one of the most important surviving medieval timber framed buildings in the Midlands" and as such, it has weaved a rich tapestry from being a luxury venue for footballers and VIPs in the 1960s to becoming a recent addition of the Sandwell Museum Service, undergoing a transition into a heritage visitor attraction used to put on events such as this one.
Visitor Service Apprentice Rebecca Lagomarsino said: "The kids thoroughly enjoyed the day spent on Manor House Museum's grounds".
