Management at the relaunched HMV outlet are again teaming up with Birmingham-based online music magazine show RawSound.tv to host two local bands this weekend.

Birmingham rockers The Clause and recent Unsigned column stars Giant and the Georges, from Stourbridge and Brierley Hill where the shopping centre is based, will provide the entertainment for July.

As well as performing for customers on the day, the bands will be given their own shelf space in-store and RawSound.tv will also put together a playlist to go out over the store's PA for the day, playing tracks from bands they have filmed since their first show in the summer of 2017.

They will also release a special episode featuring the event once it has been edited.

The idea is to promote local musicians, showcase the work of RawSound.tv and also to "bring HMV closer to its customers", according to management.

Last month's first event featured Gornal singer-songwriter Alex Ohm and Wolverhampton's The Jack Fletcher Band and was hailed a huge success, RawSOund.tv's founder and co-host Mark Piddington saying: "It was absolutely fantastic. It really went well, I can honestly say without a hitch.

"The bands were really well received and they put on some really good sets that pulled in some crowds."

The music on Saturday will kick off at noon and in between sets the musicians will be in the store signing merchandise customers have bought of theirs on the day.

Meanwhile in Wolverhampton, the Mander Centre's HMV outlet will be launching its own live music showcase tomorrow.

Kicking off at 2pm, it will feature home city singer-songwriter Ryan Evans, who last month picked up the Best Singer-Songwriter award at the first ever Black Country Musi Awards held in the city.

Ryan, also the lead singer of returning city band The Clocktower, will again be performing live and selling his merchandise in-store.

He tweeted ahead of the event: "Live in-store @hmvWolves this #Saturday 2.00pm @ManderCentre @EnjoyWolvesCity come down and grab a limited edition copy of my latest release! #hmvLive #ryanevansuk

That release was The Punk Poet EP, which came out in April.

The events are part of a company-wide bid by HMV to re-connect with the communities they serve following on from their latest takeover by Canadian company Sunrise Records.
