The Disney show will be in Birmingham until Sunday

A troupe of skaters brought a string of treasured classics to life when The Wonderful World of Disney on Ice came to Birmingham's Resorts World Arena.

Players from Birmingham City FC and their families bumped into the stars of the show ahead of Wednesday's opening night.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse were nearby with their warm hugs, ready to greet the stars and their loved ones, before sprinting off for the show.

Disney fans of all ages will be able to watch the dazzling ice show in Birmingham until Sunday, when then tour will then move on to Glasgow and Cardiff.

More than 50 Disney characters will help sprinkle the magic across the ice as the medley of classic and modern tales comes alive.

Audiences will join Mickey and Minnie as they venture on their treasure-seeking journey, meeting much-loved characters from Frozen, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin.

Characters from Disney Pixar's Toy Story will also steal the spotlight as they burst into song, along with characters from Finding Dory - a first in the UK.

Producer Nicole Feld said: "“What I like best about Disney On Ice is that we are privileged to bring classic and modern Disney and Pixar stories to hometowns around the world live on ice.

"In this production, our amazing creative team chose action-packed stories that really resonate with not only kids today, but with their parents as well.”
