Nationally Italian, mainly pizzas, proved to be the favourite cuisine with takeaway lovers.

In Dudley, kebabs make up one out of every five orders, followed by pizza Margherita and chicken tikka masala, while one out of every six orders in Shrewsbury are for the Middle Eastern favourite.

For Telford and Wolverhampton, takeaway lovers go craziest for Chinese food, with chow mein the top order.

Sweet and sour chicken is second in the Shropshire town and chicken curry the runner-up in the city.

Chicken tikka masala is top in Stafford – one out of every five orders – followed by kebabs and cheeseburgers.

Chicken curry comes in second place in the borough.

Graham Corfield, UK managing director of Just Eat, said: “The kebab is still king on many UK high streets, but takeaway trends are being shaken up by adventurous eaters looking to sample the hottest new cuisine and healthier, more conscious foodies opting for leaner options.

“Vegan is the fastest growing cuisine ordered on Just Eat last year, with orders growing by 1,500 per cent across the whole of the UK.

“We also saw a much bigger appetite for both Cantonese cuisine and for Nigerian food.

“With 30,000 restaurants available on the Just Eat app nationwide, collectively delivering thousands of takeaways every week, we’re pleased to offer a wide choice of cuisines from independent restaurants and brands that people know and love.”
