Mad Friday: The best places to go out across the West Midlands
It's party time!
Christmas celebrations will kick off tomorrow night with people hitting bars, pubs and clubs to mark the start of their festive break.
From the terrible dance music to that late night kebab, 'Mad Friday' has become a staple in the festive season calendar.
But with most people heading into the night on a limited budget because Christmas spending has wiped out the bank account, the Express & Star has compiled a list of some of the best deals to be found.
From cheap pizzas to two-for-one cocktails, there are plenty of deals to be had across the West Midlands.
Popular bar-chain Revolution, which has sites in Bridge Street, Walsall, Broad Street, Birmingham and Riverside, Stafford, offers party-goers the chance to buy a Revolution Card for £4. This card then offers 25 per cent off food, two-for-one cocktails and a host of other deals involving plenty of alcohol. Cocktails include Pornstar Martinis, Long Island Iced Teas and Classic Mojitos.
Wetherspoons too offer revellers the chance of cheap food and cheap alcohol. The pub-chain may be steering away from traditional Christmas dinners but has a large selection on its festive menu including a stuffed turkey breast and winter vegetables, a brie and bacon burger and a creamy mushroom risotto. You can pair your choice of festive main with a large selection of drinks, including the likes of Bell's whisky, Gordon's gin, Guinness, Fosters and Smirnoff vodka.
Wetherspoons has pubs in every town and city across the West Midlands so expect them to be popular tomorrow night.
Those more looking forward to the food rather than the alcohol will be pleased to know that popular pizza-chain Pizza Express once again has a Christmas offer on – this time offering three courses and a glass of fizz from £19.95.
You can order any starter, main and dessert from the menu and the restaurant will discount the most expensive items from the bill. The offer is only valid for dining in but Dudley, Walsall, Birmingham and Stafford all boast Pizza Expresses. Dudley has restaurants at Merry Hill and on Stourbridge's High Street, while Walsall's is at the Waterfront and Stafford's is in Market Square. Birmingham boasts several including at The Mailbox and Brindley Place.
Australian bar Walkabout is always popular among revellers and tomorrow night will be no different, with both the Birmingham (Broad Street) and Wolverhampton (Queen Street) bars opening into the early hours of Saturday morning. The bar offers a selection of food and drink, including pitchers of Woo Woos and Vodka Sunrises, and billy cans of Gold Coast and Barrier Reaf.
But Walkabout is not the only venue promising revellers a late night, with nightclub Popworld too opening its doors long into the night.
The club has venues in both Birmingham, Broad Street, and Wolverhampton, North Street, and will be open from 9pm until 4am.
It may cost £5 to get in but tomorrow night's event, I Love Poptails, offers two-for-one on cocktails along with its immensely popular music playlist - including the likes of Spice Girls and Steps and a host of Christmas songs.
It might not necessarily be the cheapest, but you can guarantee a good night out at Birmingham's Christmas Market in Victoria Square.
From steins of beer and mugs of mulled wine to a half-metre hotdog and fried potatoes, the market offers revellers a great choice of classic German food and drink.
The market has been incredibly popular ever since it opened last month and expect tomorrow night to be no different.
It may be one of the biggest nights out of the year, but as always people are advised to be sensible and not over-indulge in alcohol.
After all, no one wants to ruin their Christmas this close to the special day.
